We are thrilled to have partnered with miHoYo and production house Radical Media to create a beautiful and elegant film for their open world adventure game, Genshin Impact.
The two minute film, directed by our own Nikola Stefanović, is set in the fictional country of Fontaine and features Olympic figure skating champion duo Sui Wenjing and Han Cong. Inspired by the "Ice Wind Suite", the duo’s dance is performed in the beautiful and authentically created game environment.
The film opens with glimpses of the game's two boss characters, Coppélia and Coppélius, with close up shots of their intricate costumes. This sets the scene for our two champion skaters to enter and start a balletic and graceful dance as the scene changes from night to day – revealing the wonderous environment around them.
At the beginning of the project, we worked closely with the miHoYo and Radical Media to design the structure and execution of the entire video. And we decided to gradually brighten up the scene as the edit unfolds to slowly reveal the environment around the skaters. This would provide players who are most familiar with the game a more cinematic experience in a world they are familiar with. As for all gaming films, authenticity to the source material is everything and we painstakingly recreated the gaming world as accurately as possible.
Creating a choreography piece has always been a personal aspiration of mine. Collaborating with Olympic champions Sui Wenjing and Han Cong brought an unparalleled elegance to our work. Working alongside miHoYo and Radical Media, we seamlessly blended dance and gaming in the enchanting world of Genshin Impact. It was a thrilling experience, merging artistic vision with the gaming universe, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this unique project.
