Yongchan Kim is a Creative Director at The Mill’s New York studio.
After studying motion graphics in South Korea, he decided to fly to NY in 2008 to get his hands on more in-depth 3D to find a way to express his vision more freely. Since then, he started his career at The Mill NY as a junior 3D artist and has grown, dedicating himself to the VFX field for more than 10 years, advancing to senior 3D artist and VFX supervisor.
When Technicolor Studio decided to launch a new office in Seoul to tap into the Asia Pacific market, Yong joined the team, relocating to Seoul to help set up the studio and drive the creative vision, working with numerous global and local brands and agencies for more than 18 months. After the successful launch of the new studio in Seoul, he came back to NY in 2024 to bring his experience and knowledge back to where he started his career.
Throughout his career, Yong has collaborated with numerous impressive directors, including Wally Pfister, Michel Gondry, Daniel Wolfe, and Wayne McClammy, focusing on how to deliver the creative vision with his capability of attention to detail in every aspect of the project. His background as a 3D artist helps craft not just CG-oriented films but also employs CGI to complement the storytelling and visuals.
